Statement of the Presidency of the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference

The Presidency of the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference disapproves the exclusion of Péter Hantz and Lehel Kovács, assistant professors of University Babes-Bolyai of Cluj from the faculty on the grounds that they have placed Hungarian inscriptions in the building of the University.

The University Babes-Bolyai defines itself as a multicultural university. As to European standards, multiculture means coexistence and equal appearance of several cultures, and, as a result of such European standards, various inscriptions, information or announcement in several languages may be read all over Europe.

The Presidency of Hungarian Rectors’ Conference calls upon the Senate of University Babes-Bolyai of Cluj to reconsider the exclusion of Péter Hantz and Lehel Kovács, assistant professors from the faculty of the University. The Senate is requested to pass decisions that are in accordance with the standards of the European Union and the decision of the Senate passed in 2005.
