Hungarian language and culture course at the University of Sao Paulo
Today (7 May 2015), after 21 years of pause, the Hungarian language and culture course restarts at the University of Sao Paulo, the biggest university of Latin-America and the most prominent educational and research potential at the region.
The course has been realized in the framework of the professional cooperation of the University of Pécs (PTE) and the University of Sao Paulo, it was supported by the Pallas Athené Domus Animae Foundation (PADA) with the contribution of the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference (HRC). The PADA took the responsibility of maintaining the programme at least for five years, therefore, the possibility of learning Hungarian is ensured for long term for the Hungarian community in Sao Paulo, and the Brazilian students who had been studying in Hungarian higher educational institutions in the framework of the Science without Borders scholarship programme, and also for people interested in the language and culture of the country.
Even in the registration period there was a huge interest towards the course, until now, 90 students enrolled to the course and further 50 is on the waiting list.
The launch of the course, which does not only allow students to acquire the Hungarian language but also to gain broader knowledge about the country’s culture, is another important step in the successful cooperation between the two countries, which has also been based on the exceptional success of the Science without Borders scholarship programme operating for two years now in Hungary.
