ABRUEM Delegation’s Visit from Brazil
Based on the invitation of the Hungarian Rector’s Conference, ABRUEM (the Brazilian Association of Rectors of State and Municipal Universities) one of the most significant association of rectors in Brazil, representing 45 public universities, visited Hungary between 25 June and 6 July 2018. Over twenty rectors and vice-rectors arrived to Hungary with the purpose of building bilateral relations with Hungarian universities and mapping the academic and research collaboration possibilities between the two nations.
During their stay, the delegation paid a visit to 14 Hungarian higher education institutions: Szent István University, Károli Gáspár University, Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Central-European University, University of Dunaújváros, University of Szeged, University of Sopron; Semmelweis University and the University of Veterinary Medicine, University of Miskolc, Eszterházy Károly University of Applied Sciences, and University of Nyíregyháza.
In the framework of the two-week-long program, the Brazilian leaders had the opportunity to participate at the HRC’s Plenary Session at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, the reception hosted by the Brazilian Ambassador to Hungary, where the rectors were greeted by dr. Orsolya Pacsay-Tomassich, Minister of State for International Affairs. The delegation was also invited to a wine-tasting dinner in Eger, provided by the HRC. On the last day of the visit, an international conference was held at Eötvös Loránd University, where speakers from both Brazilian and Hungarian institutions expressed their views on the internationalization of higher education.
Hopefully, the visits will result in increasing mobility between the two countries and the launch of numerous joint R&I projects, which might affect positively the mid-and long-term development of our economic relations, as well.
